JOIN USAs part of world oral health day celebrations, the Tobacco Intervention Initiative (TII) centre of A J Institute of Dental Sciences will conduct an awareness programme on the ill effects of tobacco for all the Anganawadi workers of Dakshina Kannada District on March 20 at the Kadri Bal Bhavan.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, A J Institute of Dental Sciences Dean Dr B Sureshchandra said that the Anganawadi workers have been selected as a target group as they interact with the general public on daily basis and have a better insight of the problems of the community.
The programme will be inaugurated by Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr K N Vijayprakash. Laxmi Memorial Education Trust Vice President Prashanth Shetty will be the guest of honour.
A memorandum will also be presented to the Deputy Commissioner and the Commissioner of Police by the Indian Dental Association Dakshina Kannada Branch and Tobacco Intervention Initiative Centre of A J Institute of Dental Sciences, for the strict enforcement of The Control of Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), as the administration plays a crucial role as protectors of health by reducing tobacco consumption, Sureshchandra said.
