Annul our marriage: Rajesh Krishnan's wife

Bangalore, March 20, 2013, DHNS: 1:41 IST

Family court orders notice to the singer: matter posted for April 4

Ramya Vasishta, wife of playback singer Rajesh Krishnan, has moved the Court seeking that their marriage be declared null and void.

In her petition filed before the family court on February 5, Vasishta has cited several reasons, prominent being that her husband is impotent.

In her petition, she said that despite his problem, he never consulted a doctor and it was she who took him to Chennai for treatment.

She has submitted that her in-laws have been harassing her ever since the marriage and sought that her marriage be declared null and void.

The family court judge, who heard the matter, has ordered notice to Krishnan with a direction to file objections and scheduled the next hearing on April 4.

Vasishta, in her petition, has said that Krishnan is incapable for a sexual intercourse and she found this out after three months of marriage.

Medical test

According to medical test results, Krishnan’s sperm count was just two per cent in quantity. Krishnan did not wish to undergo treatment as he feared that it would become public.

Due to his weakness, Krishnan had suggested Vasishta to undergo assisted reproductive treatment, which she refused to do. Krishnan’s mother too objected to her son’s treatment and stated that if Vasishta walks out on her son, she will get him married again.

18-month marriage

Vasishta was married to Krishnan one and half years ago at the Kollur Mookambika temple.

This was Krishnan’s third marriage. He was earlier married to Soumya Rao, currently a singing sensation in Hindi and other languages and daughter of renowned Kannada singer B K Sumithra. Krishnan later married Haripriya, a dentist.

‘Hid facts’

Vasishta has said that the grounds for divorce in Krishnan’s previous two marriages was mainly the same, which Krishnan had hid from her.

Vasishta is a TV anchor and singer who became popular with television serial Mukta Mukta. Krishnan is a renowned singer with over 5,000 songs in different languages under his belt and has won many awards.
