A 49-year-old man committed suicide by jumping in front of a train at West Uttam Nagar Metro station on Saturday.

Rajender Kumar, a resident of Jain Colony, worked with a private company in Noida as a machine operator. Police said Kumar’s body was mutilated as it had come under the wheels of the train.

“The CCTV camera footage of the station shows that Rajender jumped in front of a train at 7.10 am,” said Sanjay Bhatia, additional deputy commissioner of police (railways).

As no suicide note was found, police are trying to ascertain the motive behind the extreme step.

The body was handed over to his family after a post-mortem at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.

Doctor arrested

In a separate incident, a doctor from Allahabad was arrested at Anand Vihar Metro station on Saturday for carrying three “dead” rounds of a revolver in his bag.
Sartaj Alam was held by Central Industrial Security Force personnel at security check-in of the station.

Sartaj told police that he had gone to Lucknow, where his uncle owns a licensed revolver.

“He says the three rounds accidentally fell in his bag,” Bhatia said. Sartaj has been booked under Arms Act.
