Cops hunt for two HM men

Seized items sent for lab test to get clues to nab them

Two days after arrest of the suspected Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant, police are now looking for clues to nab two more suspected terrorists who are suspected to be holed up in the national capital region.

The two suspected terrorist were at the Haji Arafat guest house in Central Delhi’s Jama Masjid from where police on arrested Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant Sayyed Liyaqat Shah’s instance recovered an AK-56 rifle, three hand grenades, 220 grams of explosives, a memory card, two magazines, a map and dry fruits two days ago.

One of the suspects gave an identity card to book the room at the guest house.

The ID card revealed his name as Mohammad — a resident of Bhiwadi in Haryana. But on verification, his name and address were found to be a fake.

A police officer hinted that the two suspected terrorists hail from Jammu and Kashmir and after the arrest of Liyaqat, they went into hiding.

The seized AK-56 rifle has a label ‘Made in China’ which would be priced around Rs 1.6 lakh. The seized items have been sent to forensic department for getting clues of the absconding terrorists.

Call traced

Meanwhile, police said they have traced a call made from Kashmir to Pakistan where the callers were discussing matters related to Liyaqat’s arrest and their exposure of the probable terror attack.

Police have also found the identity card of Liyaqat issued from Muzaffarabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir where he has been termed as “Muhajir Liyaqat Shah, staying with two other family members since 2003”.


Police found around five to six pictures of crowded markets from the memory card they seized from the room. They are verifying the locations of those markets.

“There are lot more to do. Two of them managed to flee after coming to the city with an intention to carry out a fidayeen attack in the Capital during Holi,” said a police officer, adding they have released sketch of one of the terrorists a day ago.
