Members of Halasuru Residents’ Welfare Association and employees of Capital One came together here on Monday to clean Halasur Lake.

As part of ‘Wake the Lake’ campaign organised by United Way Bengaluru and Halasuru RWA, volunteers cleaned a portion of the lake filled with trash. They also cleaned the children’s play area.

Suresh Nair from United Way Bengaluru, a non-profit organisation, said: “ Restoring lakes is important as it is our public resource. Water shortage in the City can be effectively addressed if our lakes are restored and maintained well.”

Apart from removing trash from the lake, the volunteers also planted 50 herbal saplings and painted children’s play equipment.

Nearly 15 to 20 bags of garbage were collected and handed over to Bruhat Bangalore Mahangara Palike (BBMP).
