JOIN US The State government on Wednesday submitted to the High Court that it had no intention of winding up the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force.
During the hearing of a petition challenging the decision of the government to disband the task force, Additional Advocate General Sajjan Poovaiah submitted that the government will allow the functioning of BMTF. He, however, stated that certain changes will be introduced into the task force in accordance with Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act.
Petitioners D Devaraj and others, while seeking to continue R P Sharma as the head of the task force till he completed his term, had said that the BMTF had booked influential persons for violations.
“This indeed was a reason for the anti-BMTF stance of the government,” the petitioners claimed.
The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D H Waghela and Justice B V Nagarathna disposed of the petition following the submission by the Additional Advocate General.
