Political leaders pledge for corruption-free polls in C'magalur

Candidates from all the political parties contesting from Chikmagalur Assembly constituency took an oath in front of Sirigere Taralabalu Mutt seer Dr Shivakumar Shivacharya that they will not woo the voters using dubious methods and they will help in corruption-free election. 

Speaking on the occasion, Higher Education Minister C T Ravi said that there is a need to hold election without wooing the voters. All should join hands in this regard. “We will be committed to our oath, as we have taken an oath in the presence of the seer,” he said. “I had voluntarily sought guidance from the seer to check poll malpractices. The voters should guide the candidates. The voters should elect the candidates judiciously,” he said. Congress candidate K S Shanthe Gowda said, “we will abide by our statement made before the seer. All the political leaders should follow it.” JD(S) candidate S L Dharme Gowda said, “we have taken an oath before the seer. We will not indulge in dubious methods.” 

District Congress Committee President M L Murthy said, “if our candidate or party workers were seen distributing money and liquor to woo voters, then we will withdraw the candidature of K S Shanthe Gowda.” JD(S) leader S L Bhoje Gowda said that all the candidates should not be in their constituency from the day of filing nomination till the election. District BJP General Secretary Prem Kumar said that there was a need to check false propaganda. BSP district President K T Radhakrishna, KJP leader C H Lokesh spoke. 

Sirigere Taralabalu Mutt seer Dr Shivakumar Shivacharya said that all the candidates contesting from Chikmagalur constituency will be asked to take an oath on corruption-free election in the presence of mutt heads, maulwis, and Bishops.
