BJP National President Rajnath Singh, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and party National Secretary Ananth Kumar said they had individually spoken to Gujarat leader and had got a favourable response. “I spoke to Modi in Delhi on Sunday. Poll code harsh: Joshi

BJP State President Pralhad Joshi, on Monday, said “undue strictness”  in enforcing the model code of conduct spoilt the festival of democracy which was part and parcel of any election. He was referring to the seizure of buses  transporting party workers to Bangalore convention by election officials in Bellary and Koppal. “They were after all coming here to attend a convention. Receipts confirming booking of vehicles were also made available, but the vehicles were seized. It’s not a good development”, he said.

KSE baits Cong on cows

Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa, dared the Congress to include in its election manifesto that it opposed anti-cow slaughter law in the State. “As promised in our manifesto, we moved the anti-cow slaughter legislation. But the legislation was opposed by the Congress. The bill was passed and is now with the Governor. Now outside the legislature does the Congress have the courage to include its stand in its manifesto”, Eshwarappa asked.

Parking lots at meet

The police department had designated eight parking lots for the convention around Palace Grounds. Once the buses with party workers from different parts of the state entered the parking-bays, they were not allowed to depart without all their passengers.

Additional Commissioner Police for Traffic M A Saleem said “There were over 350 KSRTC buses along with some private vehicles. With our experience, we were able to regulate their movement in a much better manner than the previous time without any inconvenience to regular motorists.
