'Vision Udupi-2025 will boost development'

Congress candidate Pramodh Madhwaraj said the ‘Vision Udupi-2025’ concept will boost all round development of Udupi assembly constituency.

Speaking after releasing “Vision Udupi-2025” document, Madhawaraj said the “Vision Udupi-2025” is part of party’s manifesto. The booklet comprising the details will be distributed to each house. Eradicating the drinking water problems in Udupi assembly constituency will be given priority. By next five years, attempts will be made to provide 24X7 water facilities to each household for all 365 days of the year. The proposed plan also includes cooking gas provision through pipeline to Udupi and Brahmavar following central government’s initiative to set up LNG terminal. The state highways and other connective stretches will be upgraded. Flyovers and underpass and also ring roads will be part of development process, he added.

Stating that tourism promotional activities will be taken up to promote tourism in a bigger way, Madhwaraj said sophisticated boarding facilities will be provided to the devotees coming to Sri Krishna mutt. Malpe beach will be developed offering amusements like wind surfing. Mannupalla Lake will be developed in the way of Pilikula. He added the major concern will be to provide uninterrupted power supply. He urged that the power generated in the district primarily should cater to the needs of people over here. The homeless needy will be provided with houses by 2025. He said housing colonies for fishermen will be constructed besides they will be provided with the sophisticated technologies. The quality of education and also infrastructural facilities in schools will be improved.

Meanwhile, BJP worker Chitranjan Das Hegde joined Congress officially on Monday. He said he was fed up with its dual policies and disheartened to observe the diminishing values of democracy. Central BJP leaders are avoiding Karnataka as they feel awkward to face public and answer their queries over their leaders in Karnataka, he added.
