Srinagar, May 5, 2013, DHNS:

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday arrested a militant of terror outfit LeT who was allegedly involved in the killing of a sarpanch in the Pahlhalan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district last year.

A police officer said Muzaffar Ahmad Lone of Raipora, Palhalan was involved in case FIR number 207/2012, under Section 302 RPC for the killing of a sarpanch. “He is a close associate of LeT commander Hilal Molvi,” he claimed.

“One pistol, one magazine and three pistol rounds were seized from him,” he added.
Ghulam Mohammad Yatoo, sarpanch affiliated with the ruling National Conference, was shot dead by militants in September last year as soon as he came out of the masjid after offering the evening prayers.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation police and Army’s 32-Rashtriya Rifles troops in a joint operation seized an AK-56 rifle, two AK-56 magazines, 120 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, one 9 mm pistol, one 9mm pistol magazines, one hand grenade and five hand held radio sets in the Dangiwacha area of Baramulla district.
