The Bangalore Traders Association (BTA), which has been sending several representations to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) communicating concerns over the slow pace of work on MG Road, has finally found answers from the Corporation.

But it is not clear if the answers are accurate.

“We had sent several communications to BMRCL expressing our anxiety and seeking certain clarifications. They finally met us on May 2,” Bhoopalam P Srinath, president, BTA, said, adding that a senior official from the Corporation had told them that they will set up a museum at the Plaza theatre concourse.

A letter sent to the members of BTA,  quoting a senior BMRCL official said: “The pace of work will be accelerated, it will be a full-fledged metro station with an entrance and exit on Church Street and MG Road, and it will also house a museum depicting the history of Bangalore since 2nd Century BC.”

However, when Deccan Herald contacted the same official inquiring about such a museum, he said: “No. We have not decided anything yet, we will see.”

Further, allaying fears of any more delay in the commissioning of facilities on MG Road, the official told the office-bearers of the BTA that the “metro work will be completed by December 2014.”

“Parking facilities will be provided by the BMRCL only in those places where huge
corporation land is available at its disposal,” the BTA has quoted the BMRCL official as saying. The official has also impressed upon the association about the kind of innovations happening at the space where the old boulevard is being transformed into an art centre.

Based on all these, the BTA, in its letter, has said: “The BTA requests all the business houses on MG Road to depute their representatives to participate in the formal inauguration of the MG Road boulevard on May 6 (Monday).”
