4.29 lakh houses yet to pay for water

Despite the interest-free installments facility, only 17,921 households have made their payments, BWSSB sources told Deccan Herald. A total of 4,47,819 households had been identified in this regard.
Of the 18,481 households which have been receiving water supply in the area, around 560 households have been getting water supply by default. BWSSB Chief Engineer T Venkataraju said, “Though many residents have made their payment, I am forced to supply water to the houses of defaulters too. I do not want the households who have made the payment to suffer due to some deadbeat.” About residents who have made payments but are yet to get water supply, Venkataraju said that he was ready to supply water if at least residents on a particular lane paid up their connection charges. Areas such as Yelahanka, Byatarayanapura, Krishnarajapura, Mahadevapura, Bommanahalli, Rajarajeswari Nagar, Kengeri and Dasarahalli come under the GBWSP project.
BWSSB is currently supplying water once a week to Yelahanka, Bytarayanapura, Dasarahalli, Mahadevapura and KR Puram and weekly twice to Kengeri and R R Nagar. Only Bommanahalli is receiving water supply on alternate days.
