Bangalore, May 16, 2013, DHNS:

JD(S) members of parliament H D Kumaraswamy and N Cheluvarayaswamy will submit their resignation to their membership on May 21. They will submit their papers to the Lok Sabha Speaker in New Delhi. Both have been elected as MLAs.

The JD(S) will be holding an introspection session in Bangalore on May 20 to assess its performance in the Assembly polls. Both, elected and defeated party legislators, have been invited for the meeting.

Kumaraswamy is going to camp in Periyapatna to campaign for the election to be held on May 28. The result will be announced on May 31. The election was postponed following the death of a candidate. The JD(S) leader has decided to stay in Periyapatna for at least six days for campaigning, sources in the party said.

Another Rajya Sabha member who has been elected as an MLA is Anil Lad of the Congress.
The three MPs, who have become MLAs, will get 14 days from Thursday or Friday, to retain either of their membership, according to sources in the Election Commission.

The Election Commission on Thursday (May 16) sent the results issued by the returning officers, for gazetteer notification. In all probability, the results will be gazetted either on Thursday or Friday. No person is allowed to have simultaneous membership for more than 14 days from the date of gazette notification.

The JD(S) legislature party meeting will be electing its new leader on May 20.
