BCA student killed in road accident
Bangalore: Oct 30, DHNS:

A third semester Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) student was killed, while his friend sustained injuries in a road accident near Bidadi on Friday morning.

The deceased, Anand Angadi (20), was a resident of RPC Layout and was pursuing BCA in S Nijalingappa College, Rajajinagar.

Anand hailed from Sunnadholi village in Gokak taluk of Belgaum district and had come to Bangalore three years ago for higher studies. The injured, Prateek, is recovering in a hospital.

Police said that Anand and seven of his friends had decided to go to a temple near Bidadi. The eight went on four bikes. Prateek was riding Anand’s bike and was wearing helmet, while Anand sat behind. A speeding Prateek lost control of his bike, which brushed against his friend’s bike that was going in front of him near Innovative Film City on Mysore Road.
He lost control over the bike and fell down, while Anand was thrown up in air and suffered severe head injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by his friends. However, doctors advised them to shift Anand to Rajarajeshwari Hospital as his condition was critical. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. However, the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
“Anand was an expert rider. He was very fond of riding and took safety measures. He had mastered driving vehicles such as tractors and cars. He wanted to be an engineer in life. Anand was the only son,” said a relative.

Police said the body was handed over to relatives after a post mortem.

The deceased Gopal (31) of Ravindranagar in T Dasarahalli was a painter. The accident occurred on Hesaraghatta road near NH 4, when the speeding BMTC bus knocked down Gopal’s bike coming from the opposite side. The bus driver has been arrested, police said.

Two-wheeler riders are the most reckless road users without even a thought for their own safety as they zig-zag in speeding traffic and think nothing of squeezing in the space that four wheelers leave for safety reasons. I wonder what "expert rider" means because I am yet to see one two-wheel rider who takes minimums safety precautions. It is a miracle that more of them do not become road accident statistics.
