The drama had all the ingredients of a film shoot - hot chase - a cruising car, chasing police jeeps, Cheetah vehicles and a few cars and motorbikes on the main roads of Bangalore Central and East.
Around 1.30 am early Saturday, when Frazer Town ACP Ashok Kumar was on his night rounds, he heard a loud noise near Select hotel, Shivajinagar where a silver grey expensive car – KA-01-MA-4890 –– rammed into an autorickshaw and a cab. The driver did not stop the car and instead, went zigzag and zoomed past shocked onlookers.

Immediately, the ACP alerted the control room and started chasing the car.
A few night birds who were hanging out near the tea joint, at the junction, lost cool and decided to trace the zooming car. The madly driven vehicle got into Cunningham road and then onto the Miller's Road. Even police vehicles' siren and flashlights did not deter the car driver.

Cyclist tossed up

On his way, he touched more than seven vehicles and passed the underbridge to enter Jayamahal. Later, on seeing the ACP's jeep, panicked driver stepped on the accelerator. In the melee, he rammed into the cyclist who was tossed up in the air and came down from more than 10-feet.

By that time, the traffic police too got the intimation and deputed their vehicles. A Hoysala which came in the opposite direction too failed to stop the killer car.

The chase ended near TV Tower, RT Nagar road junction near Doordarshan when the ACP vehicle driver Monappa managed to surge ahead and stop the car. Within minutes, the angry mob that were chasing, not aware of the cops pulled the ruthless driver out of the vehicle and started raining blows. In no time, he was bleeding and almost fell unconscious. The same cops came to his rescue and managed to pacify the crowd and dumped him in the RT Nagar inspector vehicle.

Later, it was revealed that the driver in an inebriated condition was Saifarsalan (27), a software engineer and a resident of RT Nagar. The car was seized by the Frazer Town traffic police. The injured Saleem Subbar (24) who hails from Darjeeling is battling for life.
