Taluk, district-level farmers awards announced
Kolar: Nov 1, DHNS:

N R Chandrashekhar, an organic farmer of Nenamanahalli in the taluk is selected for the district-level agriculture award for the year 2008-09.

Chandrashekhar is selected out of the 15 farmers who had registered for the ragi crop contest. Five farmers each from Malur and Bangarpet, four from Kolar and one from Srinivaspur had registered themselves for the contest. Out of 12 farmers who had grown more than 15 quintals per hectare, the yield was found to be more in the case of Chandrashekhar. The first prize carries a cash reward of Rs 15,000.

Venkateshappa of Ramapur in Bangarpet taluk and M N Venkateshappa of Madinayakanahalli have secured second and third prizes respectively.
Taluk level agriculture awards have also been announced. However, the selection has not been done in Kolar as minimum number of entries were not received. While rules stipulate that 15 farmers need to register for the contest, only eight had registered in the taluk. So is the case in Mulbagal taluk.

T S Satish of Tekal is selected from Malur taluk while Mukunda Naika of Shamasettyhalli and Narayanaswamy of Chavaramangala have secured second and third prizes respectively. Fourteen entries were considered for the selection.
Subramani of Srirangabhandahalli, Narasamma of Gandodihalli and Chandramma of Buchepalli have bagged first, second and third prizes of the taluk-level award in Bangarpet. As many as 29 farmers were in the fray.

Similarly, Gurala Venkataravana Reddy of Koppavaripalli in Nelavanka hobli, K N Kittanna of Korakonapalli and Vidyavathamma of Kottahudya have been selected for taluk-level awards in Srinivaspur.
