Eco Walk held to create awareness on pollution

The Transport Department on Monday, organised a four-kilometre ‘Eco-Walk’ to mark the beginning of pollution awareness month this November. It was flagged off by Principal Secretary to the Transport Department Shankarlinge Gowda and Commissioner for Transport and Road Safety Bhaskar Rao who participated in the walk.



Various programmes will be organised through out November to creating awareness  about harmful effects of vehicular pollution among public, Rao said. “Rapid urbanisation, rising number of vehicles and its impact on the health of people are of serious concern” he added.

School children

With more than 82 lakh vehicles, across the State, the Transport Department will organise a host of events, viz a cycle rally, a cartoon exhibition and a painting competition for school children to create better awareness on the issue.

The walk began at 8 am in the Shree Kanteerava Stadium and waded through KSLTA Tennis Court, Cubbon Park, Bal Bhavan, High Court, State Public Library, Hudson Circle and back to the stadium. Over 500 participants took part in the walk.
