CM against acquisition of farm lands
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed officials not to acquire fertile agriculture land for industrial purposes.
In a meeting held earlier this week, the chief minister is learnt to have said that the utmost priority of the government was to take a look at the existing land bank before proceeding further on acquisition. Citing the rising costs of food grains and vegetables in the State, the CM said that it was unrealistic to keep acquiring agriculture land for feeding the industries.
He noted that the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) was looking more like a real estate agency than functioning as a government facilitator.
