An 84-year-old woman has helped police arrest four robbers, including the mastermind of a robbery case in west Delhi.

The robbers identified as Akhtar Hussain(40), Sujit (20) alias Ajit, Arun(24) and Dharmender(39) were arrested by officials of Kirti nagar police station after they allegedly attempted robbery at a house in the area, police said.

Last Tuesday, the four entered the house of Kaushalya Devi (84) posing as North Delhi Power Limited employees, seeking to check the electricity meter-reading. After entering the house, Akhtar caught hold of the woman and threatened to kill her, they said.

Sujit and Arun were searching for valuables in the house when Kaushalya somehow got herself freed and shouted for help. Her neighbours came to help and the police was also informed which arrived at the spot immediately and apprehended the robbers.

During interrogation, Hussain said the plan was concocted by Dharmender who wanted money because of his failing business. Akhtar had roped in his friends Sujit and Arun. All the four accused are history sheeters, a police statement said.
