Alleged harassment at workplace
BPO employee jumps to death
Bangalore,Nov 2,Deccan Herald News Service:

A BPO employee jumped from the top of his house and ended his life in Murugeshapalya on Tuesday afternoon.

The Airport police gave identified the deceased as Amarkanth (27), a bachelor from Patna in Bihar and employed with HTMT. For the last three years, Amarkanth was living along with his friend at a rented accommodation.

Amarkanth’s friend told Deccan Herald, “For the last few months, Amarkanth looked depressed as he was being harassed by his team leader. He was not liked by his team leader and whenever Amarkanth approached with a leave requisition, he was looked down upon and humiliated. He was extremely unhappy with the developments in the office and had also planned to quit. He thought things might change after taking a break and managed to avail leave, but after his return, situation worsened and this further let him down.

“Amarkanth used to share his feelings with his colleagues. Of late, he was negative and often he said that he has lost interest in life due to the harassment meted out by his team leader. For the fortnight, Amarkanth rarely interacted with his friends, but we didn't think that he would take the extreme step,” added his friend.

According to HAL police, Amarkanth’s  neighbour saw him leaping to death. Around 1 pm, Amarkanth walked up to the first floor terrace and after a few minutes of walking in circles, he jumped with his head down. On hearing the noise, neighbours rushed to rescue him but he was seen lying in a pool of blood and within seconds, he breathed last.

The neighbour informed the police who rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the Bowring Hospital. Amarkanth’s parents are expected to arrive in the City and with their consent postmortem will take place on Wednesday. Amarkanth has not left any death note. The cops are investigating the case.

There are pressures everywhere. Dont think the team leader is without it. The chairman of the BPO must be the height of pressures. Take a look at the US and the effects of the recession the world is experiencing on account of that one super power. No one is to blame here, just UP and Bihariwalas flooding bangalore.

Dear Suma pressure is everywere that does not give anybody the right to bully a fellow employee which has resulted in the death of an innocent and for no fault of his. This problem needs to be addressed in India and more needs doing to end bullying in the work place. His family should sue the company and justice must be done.

whatever be the pressure there is limit to everything. This is no excuse for harassment and persons involved must be punished according to the law.everybody is entitled to fair treatment at his/her workplace.harassment in any form must not be tolerated. The company should initiate disciplinary action against the concerned person. The police should also book a case against such person and investigate it.
