National conference on  higher education

Knowledge Xchange, a Chennai-based organisation, will be hosting a national conference on ‘DNA of Higher Education: Recalibration, Responsibility, Growth & Competitiveness’ on November 7, 2009 at Chennai.

Management Development course

The Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore is conducting a three-week residential Certificate Course in Managing Development (CCMD). The course demands participation in extended lecture discussions, video/film documentary discussions, field trips, participatory rural appraisal apart from formal instruction. Development practitioners working with the state or corporate organisations, and post-graduates and lecturers engaged in development teaching and research may apply.

NIIT and IBM forge alliance

NIIT and IBM have entered into an alliance to offer training programmes in IBM technologies. NIIT will offer training programmes on IBM’s CEIS (Career Education in IBM Software) framework. The partnership will be extended, in successive phases, to other platforms of IBM like Database Administration, E-Business System Administration, Enterprise Collaboration and Enterprise IT Management. The newly launched programmes will be available across 100 NIIT centres in India. Awards for young achievers

GlobalScholar (USA), a company that manages online learning portals, invites participants for the GlobalScholar-EducationWorld Young Achievers Award 2009.  The award aims to acknowledge and inspire young achievers (between 12-25 years) across India in four fields of endeavour — Science, Maths and Technology, Arts and Music, Social Work and Sports.

Entry forms can be downloaded from www.globalscholar.com and must be submitted before December 12, 2009. A jury will assess the shortlisted finalists. From among the finalists one Young Achiever in each category will be adjudged the GlobalScholar-EducationWorld Young Achiever.

German & French classes
