Distance education courses

Bharativa Vidya Bhavan’s Harilal  Bhagwati  College of Communication and Management, Race Course Road, Bangalore is issuing applications for MS/MA in Mental Health as well as Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health. The courses are conducted by Kuvempu University, under the distance education programme, in co-ordination with Manasa Educational Foundation for Mental Health, Shimoga. Interior design course

Raffles Millennium International is offering a three-year advance diploma and bachelor’s degree course in Interior Design. The course covers interior design principles and theory, free-hand drawing, architectural drafting, interior colour application, cultural studies, computer graphic skills, building technology and construction, presentation drawing, 3D Computer-Aided Drawing, construction studies, and budgeting and costing. Candidates must have 10+2 (Higher Secondary) pass marks from any recognised board to obtain admission. Class 12 students may apply for provisional admission. TAPMI courses

The TA Pai Management Institute has introduced three new PGDM programmes in Health Management, Banking & Financial Services and International Business. The courses are two-year, full-time residential programmes and the intake is 60 students in each stream. A three-year (10+2+3) university degree in any discipline, recognised by AIU, with not less than 50 per cent overall aggregate marks is compulsory. Candidates appearing for their final year degree examination may also apply.  Based on scores in CAT/ GMAT, candidates will be short-listed and invited to participate in the subsequent TAPMI Admissions Process (GD/PI) to be held at Bangalore, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata and Manipal. For TAPMI admissions (2010-2012), CAT 2009 scores and GMAT scores from the last two years (2008 & 2009) will be considered. The TAPMI Handbook of Information for Admissions 2010, containing the application form, can be obtained on payment of Rs 1,300 from the Institute (0820-2701010/2571359), its Bangalore centre (080-41501900) and select branches of Axis Bank/SBI. The applications can also be downloaded from www.tapmi.edu.in. The last date for receipt of completed forms is December 10, 2009.

Scholarships for the deserving

FIITJEE, through an initiative called Fortunate 40, will be giving out full scholarships to Class X and VIII students who aspire to study medicine  (for the academic year 2012  and 2014). Applicants will be shortlisted through a selection test that will be held on November 15, 2009.

Last date to apply for the scholarship and test is November 12, 2009. Candidates must be from a central/ state government school with a total parental income below Rs 10,000 a month.

Media & Arts courses

Film, Television, Animation and Media institute, Whistling Woods International (WWI), has announced admissions for the January 2010 batch. WWI will provide training in the technical and creative aspects of filmmaking and television through a two-year, full-time residential programme in 8 specialisations namely acting, animation, production, cinematography, direction, editing, screenwriting and sound.
