‘Contribute to country’s development’
Tumkur,Nov 4,Deccan Herald News Service:

“Science and technology must be emphasised by all those countries which aspires to achieve development, opined Bangalore-based LRDA (DRDO) Director S Varadarajan.

He was speaking after inaugurating the technical workshop ‘Ideas-2009’ at Siddaganga Technical College in the City. The workshop was organised by the College’s AEEE Students’ wing.

Students are joining IT companies for the sheer money rather they should join research and development organisations and should contribute to country’s development, he added.
Prof Basavarajaiah said that a cursory look at human past revealed that in ancient days muscle power was given prominence. Later it shifted to money and now the emphasis lies on knowledge. Students should always aim to achieve knowledge, he added.

Prof G S Shivakumar presided over the function. Dr K V Suresh, SIT College AEEE Students Wing office-bearers V S Pavan, H M Ramya and others were present.
Many competitions were held in the workshop in which more than 400 students from engineering colleges across the State participated.

Best Project

Two projects prepared by the SIT students had been selected as the best projects at the Students Project Seminar-cum-Exhibition held at the Suratkal’s National Institute of Technology (NIT). The expo was jointly organised by Karnataka State Science and Technology Council and NIT.
The project ‘Artificial Intelligence’ prepared by students Vaibhav Desai, P Suhas, Revant Prakash and G Pritish of Electronics and Communication Engineering division under the guidance of Lecturer Dr R Kumarswamy was adjudged the best project of the year.
