Unabated quarrying alleged

High Court has granted an interim stay in a public interest litigation

Due to the illegal quarrying being carried out the houses in and around Aroor villages are developing cracks. Vessels and other utensils are falling down. There is also danger to the lives  of people living in these houses.
Manjunath, K V Vijaykumar and Narendra of Aroor village had filed a public interest litigation in this regard in the High Court stating that there was loss of property to the villagers. A Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Dinakaran and comprising Justice Bopanna has passed an interim order.
The hearing has been postponed to June 2 and the High Court has directed the Chikkaballapur Deputy Commissioner to visit the place and make a list of loss of property in every house.
The High Court had admitted the plea of the petitioners regarding the illegal quarrying and ordered the Legal Services Authority member secretary to file a report. The member secretary had visited the Aroor village a few months back and collected information from the villagers and the KNR group officials. The member secretary in his report had mentioned that the problems of the petitioners was closer to truth. Based on the report, the High Court granted an interim stay.
Quarrying unchecked
The illegal quarrying by the KNR group is still going on unabated, in spite of the HC stay order. As a result the villagers are a concerned lot. Leader Manjunath has alleged that the officials are adopting delaying tactics to stop the quarrying.
