B’lore-bound train derails, 12 injured
Mumbai: Nov 4, DHNS:

Passengers on board the Gandhidham-Bangalore Express had a miraculous escape when 11 coaches of the train derailed, two of them overturning and getting badly damaged, near Dombivili past Tuesday midnight.

The mishap resulted in about a dozen passengers sustaining minor injuries. It was truly providence that not many passengers, who were fast asleep in their compartments, were hurt in the incident.

The Central Railway arranged for a special train to facilitate the onward journey of the stranded passengers. The train left for Bangalore later in the day, the Central Railway PRO A K Jain told reporters.

The incident occurred around 2 am near Dombivli on the single-line Vasai-Diva section which links the Western Railway and Central Railway. As such, the mishap did not cause any disruption on the main lines of either Central or the Western railways.
The train was approaching Bhiwandi in Thane district when the derailment took place.
Relief and rescue teams rushed to the scene of the accident and the work on restoring the traffic on the Vasai-Diva section was started.

The railways set up helpline numbers at Bangalore, Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Vasai, Gandhidham, Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodra to provide information to people about their near and dear ones.
