| HC refuses to vacate stay |
| Bangalore, Nov 4,Deccan Herald News Service: |
The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday rejected a plea to vacate the stay on vehicular movement during the night on the road via Bandipur National Park, which connects Ooty in Tamil Nadu and Sulthan Bathery in Kerala.

|
A division bench headed by Chief Justice P D Dinakaran made it clear that there was no question of vacating the stay as the survival of wild animals and the conservation of forests were at stake. The bench also observed that the ban on vehicle movement was only at night and not during the day. Therefore, the court is not responsible for any inconvenience to traders and the public.
The Chamarajnagar Deputy Commissioner had issued an order on June 3 banning vehicle movement on the Bandipur road during the night which was revoked a week later by the state government.
