Biker rams road median, dies

A middle aged man was killed in an accident on West of Chord Road late on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Babu, 46, a resident of Kamala Nagar. Babu, an operator at the Mico Factory in Adugodi, was returning home on his scooter when the accident occurred.

According to police, Babu was speeding and failed to notice a road hump. He rammed a road median, severely injuring his head. The scooter, which was dragged all along the median struck an electricity pole before coming to halt. Although Babu was rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared dead on arrival. Vijaynagar traffic police have registered a case.

Arrested for fraud

The Madivala police have arrested the director of a private firm in connection with a cheating case. Joseph M Alfonso, 36, a resident of Kammanahalli and director of MM Environment Services is the arrested. Police have seized 23 laptops, eight servers, 39 desktops and 31 monitors from his office. The arrest was made following a complaint of cheating filed by J B Kurien of Bommanahalli.

 Kurien, who is associated with Counterpoint Private Limited, which is in the business of renting computer peripherals and servers, alleged that Alfonso procured computers, monitors and servers on rent and sold them to different individuals in Pulikeshinagar and Basavanagudi areas.

Complaints have been registered against Alfonso in this regard, police added.
