The Juvenile Justice Board on Thursday reserved its judgment on a minor boy’s involvement in the December 16 gang-rape in Delhi of a 23-year-old paramedic student, till July 25.

Presiding over the board, principal magistrate Geetanjali Goel advised the media not to speculate on the decision before it is out.

The juvenile was born on June 4, 1995, which makes him 17 years and six months old when the gang-rape took place. It is claimed that he brutalised the victim, ripping out her internal organs. She died in a Singapore hospital on December 29.

He also faces another case of kidnapping and robbery of a carpenter named Ramadhar Singh. Rajesh Tiwari, counsel for the accused juvenile, said the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) passed a judgment in the case of robbery and held him guilty.

“The order was not announced in the open court. The judgment will be given to the prosecution and defence counsels in sealed envelopes. If the juvenile has been punished for robbery, the JJB will pass the sentence on July 25.

On the same day, the JJB will also pass its judgment on the juvenile accused in the gang-rape and murder case,” Tiwari said.
