Woman dies at operation theatre

A 50-year-old woman operated on for kidney stones died on the operation table, allegedly due to anaesthesia overdose in a private hospital at Hennur.

On Monday morning, M A Parvathamma was admitted to Sushrutha Nursing Home at Hennur. After an hour into the operation, the doctors came out of the operation theatre and pronounced that the patient had apparently died due to blood pressure leading to heart attack.

“Though she was suffering from kidney stones, she was hale and healthy at the time of admission. The doctors’ claim that my wife had blood pressure is ridiculous. The doctors have killed my wife due to their negligence while administering anaesthesia”, Muniswamy, the patient’s husband, said in his complaint. The family members staged a protest in front of the hospital for several hours before the Hennur police reached the spot and pacified them. Hennur police have registered a case and are awaiting the post-mortem report .
