Tata Steel October sales up 38%
Mumbai, Nov 6, DHNS:

Tata Steel on Friday said that steel sales of its domestic operations rose 38 per cent in October from a year earlier to 462,000 tons.

 
Saleable steel production in October rose by 27% from a year earlier to 570,000 tons and crude steel production gained 22% to 599,000 tons.

Meanwhile, in the same period, production of hot metal rose 17 per cent to 649,000 tons.

The company added that in the reporting month there was 89 per cent increase in the sales of long steel products over the same month a year ago. However, the quantum of products mainly used by the infrastructure and construction companies could not be ascertained immediately.

Its saleable steel production increased by 27 per cent to about 5,70,000 tonnes last month as against about 4,50,000 tonnes in October 2008.
