Unemployed woman ends life

An unemployed woman, Madhu, 28, was found dead at her house in Peenya 1st Stage on Friday evening.

Police said Madhu, a native of Challakere in Chitradurga district, was staying with her sister Latha in the City for the last one year. A practising lawyer, she had recently completed her business studies and was hoping to land a “dream job” in the IT industry.

Sources said Latha had moved to Bangalore after finding a job in a leading IT firm. Madhu wanted to follow in her sister’s footsteps, but couldn’t succeed.

In her statement to the police, Latha said Madhu was depressed that she could not find a well-paying job and that could have probably been the last straw.

On Friday morning, Latha left for office as usual. When she returned home at around 7 pm, she found the door latched from inside, and Madhu did not respond to her calls. With the help of neighbours, she broke open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan.

RMC Yard police, who have registered a case, said an autopsy was carried out at MS Ramaiah Hospital and the body was handed over to the family on Saturday afternoon.
