Parichaya

Kannada (U) Cast: Tharun Chandra, Rekha Director: Sanjay K

Boy and girl meet by chance during Valentine’s Day when fate seemingly conspires to throw them together again and again. Smitten DJ Jayanth (Tharun) asks for BPO girl Nimmi (Rekha)’s number, but Nimmi leaves everything, including their future, to fate...
‘Parichaya’ brings the John Cusack-Kate Beckinsale starrer ‘Serendipity’ home. But the narration and treatment makes Sanjay K’s offering all the more delectable just like its original; the director cleverly uses slices of modern life to adorn his love story.

True, it takes time to get used to the awkward posturing of love by the duo initially, but their characters and thereby, story development, are etched out well without melodrama; a big plus point. Among the ensemble, Avinash and Bhargavi Narayan stand out with nuanced and endearing performances. Indeed, most of the cast brings in a fresh, real feel. A dragged out climax and the Kailash Kher song do mar the pleasure but chartbuster numbers shot well, dialogue and artwork that know today’s youths’ pulse all deserve a pat on the back. ‘Parichaya’ is one film worth knowing.
