Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani
Prashant Sharad Mane

Hindi (U) Cast:: Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and others Director: Rajkumar Santoshi

After ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, Rajkumar Santoshi has once again tried his hand with a romantic comedy in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani (APKGK)’. As the title suggests, APKGK is a strange love story of Prem (Ranbir Kapoor) and Jenny (Katrina Kaif).

Prem and his good-for-nothing friends start Happy Club, where they try to solve the problems of their members (or their own problems) and rescue people from trouble. During one of such ‘rescue operation’, the president of the club (who else – Prem), comes across Jenny and falls in love with her at first sight. Jenny has a different story to tell. She is an orphan and the ‘parents’ who adopted her, want her to marry a boy of their choice. Prem and Jenny, who stammer when they are upset, become friends.
Come interval, Prem believes that Jenny also loves him. But then comes a shocker for him. Jenny tells Prem that she loves Rahul (Upen Patel) and wants to marry him. Poor Prem decides to sacrifice his love and get the lovers married.

Meanwhile, Jenny’s parents fix her marriage with a rich boy. Prem, with the help of his friends, ‘rescue’ Jenny from her marriage ceremony and takes her to Rahul.
Except for the sincere and skillful performance of Ranbir and glamorous looks of Katrina, APKGK has nothing new. But ‘Ajab...’ does have a few good numbers from Pritam. Ranbir and Katrina make a wonderful on-screen couple. Director Rajkumar Santoshi makes many Gazab moves in the film. For instance, the confusion over the city in which the story is staged. It seems like Ooty and Wellington (Tamil Nadu), but there are vehicles with Maharashtra registration!
