Nationalise mines, says Narayanaswamy
Member of Legislative Council, Y A Narayanaswamy has suggested nationalisation of mines to conserve the natural resources of the country.
Speaking to reporters here recently, the MLC alleged that the government has been safeguarding the interests of the affluent people instead of taking steps to check plundering of natural resources.
Terming the political impasse in the ruling part as “unfortunate,” the MLC said that “investing” in politics with the objective of reaping benefits would prove detrimental to the democratic system of governance.
“The BJP government will not stay in power if it accords priority for prestige. People have started look down upon politicians further with the conduct of some legislators leading to the crisis in BJP. A new system must be brought in to rein in corrupt politicians. Candidates should be declared elected only if they manage to secure 50 pc of the total votes,” he opined.
