Clean chit to HC judge in cash-at-door scandal
New Delhi, Nov 7, DHNS:

The Supreme Court has given a clean chit to Justice Nirmal Yadav of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the cash-at-door scam.

The SC collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) K G Balakrishnan, has accepted the report of the Union Law Ministry that there was no evidence against Justice Yadav of her involvement in the scam in which Rs 15 lakh was delivered at the residence of another judge of the same high court.

However, the apex court has recommended the government that Justice Yadav be transferred from the Punjab and Haryana High Court to the Uttarakhand High Court at Nainital. A three-judge committee, appointed by the apex court, had also submitted its probe report to Justice Balakrishnan on the scam.

A probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation  had given a clean chit to the judges, saying that the evidence against Justice Yadav would not stand scrutiny before the law.
