Koda’s wife to contest assembly polls
The former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda’s wife, Gita Koda is now all set to contest the assembly election under the banner of Jharkhand Navnirman Morcha (JNM), a party floated by Koda’s supporters.
Gita Koda is one among the five candidates to be fielded under the banner of JNM, sources close to Koda’s family said. The party is yet to be formally registered.
The step was in the offing for a long time as Madhu Koda is believed to enjoy mass support in the Kolhan region (south Jharkhand) of the state. During her recent visit to Singhbhum, the constituency represented by Madhu Koda in Lok Sabha, Gita Koda pleaded that her husband was innocent.
“My husband was being falsely implicated because of political reasons and hence it is high time his own people teach his tormentors a lesson,” she told the locals.
While, the key accused including Binod Sinha and Sanjay Chaudhary continue to be at large, one of them Devendra Mukhiya on Monday turned up for interrogation before the I-T officials.
