MLC pays surprise visit to district hospital

MLC Gayathri Shanthe Gowda has expressed displeasure over the functioning of Malle Gowda government hospital and maternity hospital, during her visit on Tuesday.  

She visited ICU and directed district Surgeon Dr Doddamallappa to give proper treatment to the patients. She also visited in-patient ward. When she pointed at leaking roof, the district surgeon said that walls will be painted shortly.

As many as eight children are undergoing treatment for malnutrition at the hospital. As many as 144 children have undergone treatment at the centre since January. There has been drastic change in the weight of the children, said district surgeon.

The public alleged that  water supply is erratic in the hospital. When the MLC asked on collecting Rs 50 for handing over ‘Madilu kit,’  the staff said that they do not collect forcibly but take if given.

The MLC also directed the officials to supply quality food in the hospital along with milk and banana.

Speaking to mediapersons, she said that Health Minister had directed her to visit the hospitals once in a month to assess the condition.

The issue on shortage of staff, dialysis machine, mobile X-Ray unit, ambulance will be brought ot the notice of the Minister.
