<p> Three women were killed on the spot and 14 sustained injuries in a head-on collision between a goods vehicle and a tractor near Ulligeri in Saundatti taluk on Thursday.<br /><br />The dead have been identified as Basavva Maruthi Chikkumbi (40), Renamma Gudadara (50) and Neelavva Shivaputrappa Antaknavar. All were coolie workers. <br /><br />The injured have been admitted to the KIMS Hospital in Hubli.<br /><br />Surveyor arrested<br /><br />Lokayukta police have arrested a surveyor while he was allegedly receiving bribe to issue survey map of a land in Khanapur on Thursday.</p>.<p>Jagadish Gowrannavar, a surveyor in the tahsildar’s office, is said to have demanded a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a farmer who had sought a survey map of his land.<br />Jagadish was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.<br /></p>
