3 killed in collision

 Three women were killed on the spot and 14 sustained injuries in a head-on  collision between a goods vehicle and a tractor near Ulligeri in Saundatti taluk on Thursday.

The dead have been identified as Basavva Maruthi Chikkumbi (40), Renamma Gudadara (50) and Neelavva Shivaputrappa Antaknavar. All were coolie workers.

The injured have been admitted to the KIMS Hospital in Hubli.

Surveyor arrested

Lokayukta police have arrested a surveyor while he was allegedly receiving bribe to issue survey map of a land in Khanapur on Thursday.

Jagadish Gowrannavar, a surveyor in the tahsildar’s office, is said to have demanded a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a farmer who had sought a survey map of his land.
Jagadish was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
