Pedestrian's death triggers protest
Death of a pedestrian in a road accident triggered a flash protest by local residents in Chamarajpet on Thursday afternoon.
The irate residents blocked Chamarajpet second main road for more than 40 minutes and stoned the bus that was involved in the accident.
The bus driver lost control near Makkala Koota after its brakes allegedly failed around 12 noon. It hit a water tanker on the road, ran over three auto rickshaws parked on the roadside and rammed three bikes. Later, it hit Sanjay, 25, a resident of Rajajinagar first block, and a native of Bagalkot, killing him on the spot.
Local residents and victim’s relatives blocked the road and staged a protest.
They raised slogans against BMTC for plying old buses and not maintaining them in good condition.
