AITA tourney from Sept 9
The tournament which carries an overall prize money of Rs 3.5 lakh is one of the biggest in South India.
Over 300 players are expected to participate in the qualifiers with the top eight players from the men’s and women’s draw taking part in the main draw. The tournament starts from the round of 32 which will have 20 direct entries, eight qualifiers and four wild cards in both the men’s and women’s singles. The qualifying matches will take place at the KSLTA courts on September 7th and 8th, with registrations closing on Friday (September 6th).
The men’s champion and the women’s champion will pocket Rs 27,300 and Rs 18,200 respectively.
Last year’s losing finalist Nitin Kirtane (AITA ranking 15) is the top seed in the men’s section, while local girl Sharmadha Balu (AITA ranking 9) is the highest ranked in the women’s section.
