Cabinet approves ring road project
The State Cabinet on Friday gave its nod to prepare a detailed project report for the proposed Peripheral Road Project (PRR) around Bangalore and seek financial assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to implement the project.
Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, he said, Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) will prepare DPR. The project is estimated to cost Rs 5,800 crore, including the land acquisition. The government is planning to seek financial assistance of Rs 3,870 crore from JICA for the purpose, he added.
Will give its consent
The project envisages construction of a eight-lane road, connecting Tumkur Road to Hosur Road. Total length of the road is 66 kms. It requires about 4,000 acres of land. The government has decided to go in for consent acquisition of land.
Besides, the Cabinet approved the proposed Kittur Rani Channamma Circle flyover by the BBMP at the cost of Rs 35.80 crore. The project has been awarded to Venkata Rao Infrastructure Projects Ltd, the Minister said.
