‘MLA did not kidnap me’
Udupi, Nov 13, DH News Service:

Mangalore-based Deepa Naik has clarified that the media reports stating that she had been kidnapped by MLA U T Khader are completely false.

Deepa NaikAddressing a press meet here on Friday, she said nobody had abducted her as it was reported in the media. “My sister Bina Rai and her husband B Ramanath Rai’s lure for money and treachery is the very reason for all the developments,” she alleged.

Deepa Naik is a post graduate in Constitutional Law from Bangalore University Law College. It had been reported in a section of media sometime back that she had been kidnapped by Khader.

“I have not lost my mental balance. Just for the sake of money, my sister made me fall sick through mental harassment and admitted me to a rehabilitation centre on Banasavadi road in Bangalore in December 2006. It was difficult for me to come out of that. However, I’m out by God’s grace. I communicated my condition to Mangalore MLA U T Khader through one of my friends, who finally rescued me from there on August 20. Khader is our family friend. I came to Mangalore on August 23. I had been to Dharmasthala later,” she explained.

“But all of a sudden there were reports in media that Khader had abducted me. This is due to the false information given by my sister Bina and her husband for their lure for money, she alleged.

Deepa said she has filed a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission in this connection on the advice of Lokayukta Justice N Santhosh Hegde.

“I can bring any number of witnesses from Mumbai to prove that I am mentally healthy,” she added.
