Jasmine who was born and brought up in the London suburb of Southall, has known the 'Hero' singer for the past 12 years and has since spent all her Christmases with Mariah in her luxurious holiday home in Aspen, Colorado, reported Daily Mail online.

"Knowing I was sick and languishing on the sofa at my mother's house with a searing temperature, she had come straight from filming the Graham Norton TV show with the intention of cheering me up," says Jasmine about the 40-year-old hitmaker's recent visit to her tiny flat.

The unlikely friends had first met when Jasmine, then a news presenter for the music channel MTV, was asked to interview Mariah at a villa on her favourite island of Capri.

The meeting had ended with the singer, one of the most successful female recording artist in history, playfully throwing Jasmine into the pool and jumping in herself.

"Mariah signs off all her letters to me with the affectionate endearment, 'Your sis, M'. Though she is stupendously rich and I am relatively poor, it is a friendship of equals," she says.

Mariah has also written about her visits to Jasmine in her  new album 'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel' with the first track 'Betcha Gone Know' containing the line, "I fell asleep on Jasmine's sofa."
