'Will quit politics if proven guilty'

Chikmagalur, Oct 3, 2013, DHNS: 1:11 IST
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council D V Sadananda Gowda has announced that he will retire from politics, if the allegations made against him by S R Hiremath of Samaja Parivartana Samudaya, Dharwad, with regard to encroachment of forest land and smuggling of forest wood are proven.

Hiremath had alleged that when Sadananda Gowda was the chief minister, he along with MLA D N Jeevaraj, was involved in encroachment of land and smuggling of forest wood for the house he was constructing in Bangalore.

Reacting to the allegations, Gowda said that if there were documents supporting the allegations, let them be released in the media.

“I will retire from politics if proven guilty. I have great respect for Hiremath. He should not make such immature statements,” he said.
