Literary events to mark silver jubilee celebrations

Shanti Prakashana, Mangalore, as a part of its silver jubilee celebrations, will organise literary programmes during November across the State under ‘Literature for peace’ campaign and the silver jubilee celebrations will be observed at Town Hall in Mangalore from November 4 to 7.

Addressing press persons in Mangalore, Shanti Prakashna Silver Jubilee Celebrations district Welcome Committee member and Dakshina Kannada district Sahithya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said that Shanti Prakashana has been rendering yeoman service to the field of literature. Especially, the translation works of the teachings of Koran to Kannada holds a significant place from the point of spreading noble religious values to society, he said.

He said that Gadag Thontadarya Samsthana Mutt seer Dr Thontada Sidhalinga Swamji is the honorary President of the State welcome committee of the silver jubilee celebrations and litterateurs like Chandrahshekhara Kambar, Dr Na D’Souza, Vaidehi, M Abdurrehman Pasha and others are the members of the committee, he added.

Silver Jubilee celebrations district Welcome Committee President and litteratuer Erya Lakshminarayana Alva said that there is no difference in the essence of religions. In order to acknowledge this fact, it is necessary to go through the teachings of various religious doctrines, Erya said and added that the hymn of Rig-Veda expressing the fact ‘Let noble thoughts come from all directions’ compliments the same belief. 

In this regard, the publications of Shanti Prakashana have been helpful in accomplishing the religious values of Koran, he said and added that he has been following various publications of the Prakashana to know more about Koran. 

He also suggested the directors of Shanti Prakashana should bring out a dictionary of Koran terms so that the commonman may easily follow the religious terms.

At a time when most of the religion is being misused by the ignorant, he said, it is very important to admit that all religions are based on the values of humanity and love. 

As a part of the silver jubilee celebrations in Town Hall, Mangalore from November 4 to 7, book exhibition, sessions on literature, multi-lingual poets’ symposium, women and children’s programmes and other variety of programmes will be held.

Siver Jubilee celebrations district welcome committee members B M Ichlangod, K M Sharif, Saeed Ismail, M B Abdurrehman, Dr Vaman Nandavar, Vijayalakshmi B Shetty, Gulabi Bilimale, Shanaz M and others were present.
