JOIN USA 31-year-old woman committed suicide after strangling her four-year-old daughter Savyaa at her home in 1st cross, Yeshwantpur main road on Wednesday.
The deceased, Meenakshi, was married to Ujwal, an engineer with BEL. The couple hailed from Rajasthan and were living in a rented house in the City for the past three years.
The incident came to light on Wednesday, around 5 pm, when Ujwal returned home from work. He was surprised to find the main door open. On entering the house, he found no one in the drawing room. He checked into the bedroom and was shocked to see his wife hanging from the ceiling and his daughter lying on the cot. He called his neighbours for help.
Police were also called. The police said Meenakshi strangled Savyaa and then hanged herself. On Tuesday evening, the couple had fought over a petty issue. Meenakshi was found hitting her daughter for not doing homework.
Ujwal yelled at Meenakshi and asked her not to hit the child. This angered Meenakshi and she broke a new mobile phone that was kept on the dining table. Ujwal shouted at her and asked her to behave.
The next morning, after her husband left for work, she killed her daughter and committed suicide. Police have registered a case.
