Cycle to school, cut down on emission
In continuation of the pollution awareness programmes being organised by the Transport Department, another Bicycle eco-rally was held at Malleswaram grounds on Wednesday.
Nearly 200 students and an equal number of the general public took part in this rally. The Department's aim was to create awareness among school children about the harmful effects of vehicular pollution. Rally also aimed to emphasise bicycles as a safer and environment-friendly mode of transport to school, said Commissioner for Transport Bhaskar Rao. This is the second bicycle rally held by the Transport Department. The first rally was held on November 14 at Jayanagar, in association with Ride A Cycle Foundation, Bangalore. TI Cycles and Reva Electric were the main sponsors for the program. A drawing competition was also held as part of the rally.
