Gehlot releases UN report at Jaipur
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today expressed concern over climate change and called for a collective endeavour by countries all over the world to control the global phenomenon. "Climate change is taking place rapidly and collective efforts are needed to control it," Gehlot said venting his anxieties after releasing the new United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA) report here on the effects of climate change.
He said the report titled 'Facing a Changing World: Women, Population and Climate', which has been prepared on a global basis, will be studied at the state level and efforts made to strictly follow it.
The report says that women farmers particularly those in poor countries will be the worst-affected by climate change as they constitute the larger section of the agricultural workforce and also because that they have less access to other income-earning opportunities than their male counterparts.
