Dance bar raided, 20 girls arrested

As many as 38 persons, including 20 girls, were arrested for performing at an ‘illegal’ discotheque after the police raided a bar on St Mark's Road on Wednesday night. They were, however, released on bail by a City court on Thursday.

According to the police, Murali, the bar owner had employed 20 girls. Javed Khan, manager of the bar, has also been arrested.

However, Jawaregowda, joint proprietor, is absconding.

9 held for murder

The mobile phone of a person murdered eight months ago in Tavarekere has led to the arrest of nine persons allegedly involved in it.

Mohammad Akbar (25) and Habeeb-ul-Rahman (24) of Arakere Lakshmi Layout, Khaja Mohiuddin (32), Abdul Rahman (23) and Arshad (24) of Gurappanpalya, Syed Nemat (22) and Imran Khan (24) of Bismillah Nagar, Safeer Ahmad (24) of Balajinagar and Zaheer Khan (23) of Anekal had reportedly murdered one Madeyan, hailing from Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu after they found him with one Hajira of Subhashnagar at a park behind Tavarekere Petrol Bunk.

They were angry with his relationship with the girl of their religion. Before escaping from the crime scene, they had taken away his cell phone. Later, they passed it on to one Abdul Hafeez (18) of Marenahalli, who used it for a day before giving it to Arshad. The police traced the mobile phone in possession of one Taiyab Pasha (18) of Thilaknagar and Abdul Hafeez. This led the police to the accused. Several cell phones, a van and six two-wheelers have been recovered from them.

Tractor driver killed

A tractor driver was killed on the spot after his vehicle collided head-on with a tempo near Hennur Bande in the early hours of Thursday.

Keshav (26) died when the two vehicles rammed against each other at Yerapanahalli around 4 am. Tempo driver Ravi (40) of Rajajinagar has been arrested. Ramanjane, who was on the tractor, has sustained minor injuries.

6 of these girls were tested HIV positive in a nursing home in city few days back. I can recall these faces clearly.
