8 militants killed in US drone attack in Pak tribal belt
Islamabad, Nov 20 (PTI):

At least eight Taliban militants were killed on Friday in a US drone attack in Pakistan's troubled North Waziristan tribal region, the second such strike in the area within three days.

The drone attack occurred in Macchikhel area near Mirali, a key town in North Waziristan tribal agency, TV news channels reported.

The drone targeted members of the Haqqani faction of the Taliban that is active in Afghanistan.

Eight militants were killed in the attack, reports from the region said.
Earlier on Wednesday, four militants were killed and five injured in a drone attack near Miranshah in North Waziristan.

Pakistan publicly opposes the US drone attacks, describing them as a violation of the country's sovereignty but observers believe there is a tacit understanding between the two sides on the strikes.

Hundreds of people, including civilians, have been killed in drone attacks in the past year.

Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Baitullah Mehsud had died in one such attack in August.
